Why vinyl flooring

100% waterproof. Vinyl is the only flooring category that is fully waterproof at the material level — install in bathrooms, basements, kitchens, mudrooms, and laundry rooms without moisture-damage risk to the floor itself.

Realistic wood- and stone-look surfaces. Modern embossed-in-register (EIR) vinyl plank and tile read as authentic wood or stone at conversational distance — a category leap from the smooth vinyl of the 1990s.

DIY-friendly install. Click-lock SPC and LVP can be installed by a competent DIYer in a weekend with no glue, no nails, and minimal tools. Glue-down is reserved for commercial or large continuous spaces.

Quiet underfoot. SPC vinyl with attached IXPE or cork underlayment is noticeably quieter than laminate or engineered hardwood — ideal for condos, multifamily, and second floors.

Lower cost than hardwood or tile. Premium LVP runs $3–$7 CAD per sq ft — typically 30–50% less than comparable engineered hardwood at similar realism levels. LVT is a fraction of the cost of comparable porcelain.

Vinyl flooring purchasing concerns — solved

"LVP, LVT, or sheet vinyl?" LVP (luxury vinyl plank) replicates hardwood with long planks and wood-grain visuals. LVT (luxury vinyl tile) replicates stone or ceramic with square or rectangular tiles. Sheet vinyl is roll-format, lowest cost, fewest seams — common in kitchens and commercial use.

"SPC, WPC, or rigid core?" SPC (stone-polymer core) is harder and more dent-resistant. WPC (wood-polymer core) is softer and warmer underfoot. Both are fully waterproof. SPC is the current default for residential and commercial.

"Click-lock or glue-down?" Click-lock for DIY and floating installs over almost any subfloor. Glue-down for commercial settings and large continuous spaces where seam strength and dimensional stability matter most.

"How thick should it be?" 4mm minimum for residential; 5–6mm for high-traffic. Wear layer 12–20 mil for residential, 20+ mil for commercial. Thicker plank ≠ better — wear layer is the durability metric that matters most.

"Delivery and samples?" Free samples Canada-wide in 2–3 business days. Free shipping on full-floor orders (1,000+ sq ft) via national freight.

Frequently asked questions

Is vinyl flooring truly waterproof?
Yes — 100% waterproof material. The seams between planks or tiles are also water-resistant; for total seam waterproofing in wet areas, glue-down installation is recommended.

Can vinyl flooring go over existing flooring?
Click-lock LVP and LVT float over almost any flat, dry, structurally sound subfloor — including tile, hardwood, and existing vinyl. Glue-down requires a clean smooth subfloor.

How much does vinyl flooring cost?
Vinyl ranges $2–$8 CAD per sq ft. Mid-grade SPC at $3–$5 is the sweet spot for most residential installs. Premium LVT runs $5–$8.

Will it dent under heavy furniture?
SPC vinyl resists dents from typical residential furniture with felt pads. Sharp point loads (high heels, dropped knife points) can dent any vinyl — protect with rugs in high-risk areas.

How long does vinyl flooring last?
15–25 years residential, 10–15 years commercial — with proper installation and maintenance. Warranty length is a good proxy for expected lifespan.

How do I order a sample?
Free samples on every vinyl SKU — click "Order Sample" on any product page. Ships Canada-wide in 2–3 business days.
