Cork Flooring
Cork flooring in Canada
Cork is the quietest floor we sell. It is harvested from the bark of the cork oak, which regrows, so the tree is never cut down. The material is full of sealed air cells, which is why cork feels warm underfoot, absorbs sound, and is easier on your back and knees than wood or tile in kitchens, workshops and offices.
Our cork range comes from Europlex, plus Yaletown Floor adhesives and finishing products, priced from $1.09 to $1.69 per sq ft.
How to choose cork flooring
- Glue-down cork tiles sit directly on a flat subfloor. They are the thinnest option, work well over concrete, and suit commercial rooms and basements.
- Floating cork planks click together over an underlay, so they install quickly and can be lifted later.
- Finish: pre-finished cork arrives sealed and ready to walk on; unfinished cork is sealed after installation, which lets you seal the seams for wet rooms.
- Thickness: thicker cork gives more sound absorption and more comfort underfoot, which matters in apartments with sound rules.
Where cork works best
Condos and apartments: cork's cell structure absorbs impact sound, which helps meet strata and condo board sound requirements. Basements: cork tolerates the cool, slightly damp conditions of below-grade rooms better than solid wood, as long as the slab is dry and flat. Kitchens and workshops: it is comfortable to stand on for long periods and softens dropped dishes. Bedrooms and offices: it keeps rooms quiet without carpet.
Care
Sweep or vacuum with a hard-floor head, damp-mop with a cork-safe cleaner, and wipe spills quickly. Use felt pads under furniture, keep pet claws trimmed, and close blinds on sun-facing windows, because cork lightens in strong direct sunlight.

Frequently asked questions
Is cork flooring waterproof?
Cork is water-resistant, not waterproof. Sealed cork handles everyday spills if you wipe them up, but for bathrooms, laundry rooms or below-grade rooms with moisture, choose SPC vinyl instead.
Is cork good for condos?
Yes. Cork absorbs impact sound, which helps meet the IIC ratings most strata and condo boards require. Check your building bylaws before ordering.
Does cork flooring dent?
Cork compresses under heavy point loads and springs back from most everyday impacts. Use felt pads and wide castors under heavy furniture.
How long does cork flooring last?
A well-maintained sealed cork floor lasts decades indoors; re-sealing every few years in busy rooms keeps the surface protected.
Do you deliver cork flooring across Canada?
Yes. Cork ships from our Burnaby, BC location to addresses across Canada, including Toronto, Ottawa and Mississauga.
