Laminate Flooring — Durable Wood Looks for Every Budget

Laminate flooring delivers the warmth of hardwood at a fraction of the price, with dense HDF cores and wear layers rated for real family life. Browse hundreds of laminate floors — waterproof and water-resistant cores, AC3 to AC5 durability ratings, 8 mm to 14 mm thicknesses and finishes from high gloss to hand-scraped texture — delivered anywhere in Canada, with US-eligible laminate here.

How to choose laminate flooring

The AC rating does the heavy lifting: AC3 suits bedrooms and low-traffic rooms, AC4 is the sweet spot for busy family homes (small price premium, much longer life), AC5 is commercial grade. Thickness affects feel and sound more than durability — 12 mm planks feel more solid underfoot and bridge minor subfloor dips better than 8 mm. For kitchens and entryways choose a water-resistant or waterproof core, which shrugs off spills for 48–72 hours; for bathrooms and laundry rooms, vinyl remains the safer call. In condos, look for planks with attached IIC-rated underlayment — most BC strata buildings require IIC 50+. Value is laminate's superpower: solid AC4 floors typically run $1.50–$3/sq ft, with premium 12 mm+ European boards at $3–$5.

Popular ways to shop the range: waterproof laminate, 12 mm+ thick laminate, oak-look laminate, dark & grey tones and click-lock installation.

Frequently asked questions

What does AC rating mean?

AC (Abrasion Class) measures wear resistance. AC1-AC2 is light residential, AC3 normal residential, AC4 heavy residential / light commercial, AC5 heavy commercial. For most Canadian homes, AC4 is the sweet spot - small premium over AC3 with much better longevity.

Is laminate waterproof?

Modern laminate with a water-resistant HDF core resists everyday spills for 48-72 hours (warranty varies by SKU). Fully waterproof laminate exists but costs more - for bathrooms and laundry rooms vinyl is usually a better choice.

Can laminate go in a basement?

Yes, with a 6 mil polyethylene vapour barrier under the laminate on concrete subfloor. Most laminates we carry include attached underlayment - for concrete, lay the vapour barrier first, then click the laminate over it.

Is laminate good for radiant heat?

Most modern laminate is compatible with radiant heat at floor surface temperatures up to 27C / 81F. Check the manufacturer spec on each product page before purchasing for a radiant install.

Does laminate work in condos?

Yes - most BC, Ontario, and Quebec multifamily buildings require IIC 50+ underlayment. Many of our laminate SKUs come with cork or foam underlayment pre-attached, meeting that spec out of the box.

Do you ship laminate across Canada?

Yes. Lower Mainland 1-3 days, rest of Canada 4-8 business days. Pallet freight on larger orders; smaller orders ship UPS or FedEx residential.
