If you have been shopping Triforest flooring and everything you find is branded Toucan, you are in the right place. Triforest is the Canadian distributor; Toucan is the name its floors are sold under. We stock 167 of them: 109 SPC vinyl planks from $2.59 per sq ft, 52 laminates from $2.19 per sq ft, and a set of MDF baseboards to finish the job. Stock sits in Ontario as well as British Columbia, so GTA orders generally ship from within the province.
1. Triforest and Toucan: the same floor
This trips up a lot of shoppers. A contractor quotes "Triforest", the sample in your hand says "Toucan", and the two look like different products. They are not. Triforest distributes the line across Canada and Toucan is the brand on the box, so every product in our Triforest collection reads Toucan – Series – Colour.
The range is deliberately narrow: hard-wearing SPC vinyl, thick laminate, and the trim to finish it. There is no Triforest hardwood. What you get instead is consistent spec at a price point well under the premium brands — most of the range carries a 30-year residential warranty and FloorScore certification for indoor air quality.
2. The SPC click vinyl series
SPC means a stone-plastic composite core: rigid, dimensionally stable and 100% waterproof. Toucan splits its SPC range by number, and the numbers are not a quality ladder — they are different formats. Here is what actually separates them.

Three things are worth pulling out of that table.
- Every click series has the pad already on it. That removes a material and a step from the install, and on SPC 4 the pad is cork rather than foam, which deadens impact sound better.
- SPC 6, SPC 5 and SPC 2 are acoustically rated at IIC 73 and STC 72. If your strata or condo board sets a minimum impact rating, those are the three to put in front of them — most vinyl at this price has no published number at all.
- SPC 5 is the value play. It is 6 mm rather than 8 mm and the wear layer drops to 0.3 mm, but the box covers 30.1 sq ft against 18 sq ft on the wider series. For a big, low-traffic area — a rec room, a rental turnover — that changes the total noticeably.
SPC Timeless, SPC 6, SPC 7 Coastal, SPC 5 and SPC 2 are all approved over radiant heat and carry a 30-year residential warranty, with 10 to 15 years light commercial. The whole SPC range is FloorScore certified.
3. Glue-down and loose lay vinyl
- GD 2 Series — a 2.5 mm glue-down plank, 7.40" wide, 0.5 mm wear layer, and a 39.63 sq ft box, the largest coverage in the Triforest range. 30-year residential and 10-year light commercial. Call for pricing.
- Loose Lay Collection — 5 mm, 7.5" wide, 0.5 mm wear layer, 25.04 sq ft per box, and it can be glued down or laid loose. $2.99 per sq ft, with a 30-year residential and 15-year commercial warranty.
Glue-down sits lower than click, handles rolling loads better and lets one damaged plank be lifted and replaced, which is why it turns up in shops, clinics and offices. It wants a flatter, cleaner subfloor in return. Loose lay is the useful middle option: no adhesive across the whole floor, but it stays put and comes up easily when a tenant changes.
4. The TF laminate series
This is where Triforest is most competitive. Toucan laminate is thick — 12 to 12.3 mm on most series — at prices where a lot of brands are still selling 8 mm.

44 of the 52 laminate SKUs we stock are AC4 rated, the class that covers heavy residential and light commercial traffic. The 81 Series, TF83 and TF66 Southwest are AC4 right across their colour ranges.
A few notes on the differences. TF83 is the flagship: 12.3 mm, 9.38" wide, a zero-gloss embossed-in-register surface, painted and waxed bevels on all four sides, an I4F drop-lock joint and a 120-hour water resistance rating. The 81 Series trades 2 mm of board for a 2 mm EVA pad already attached — thinner underfoot but faster to lay and quieter on a hard subfloor. TF63 and TF62 are the budget end at $2.19 and still 12.3 mm, which is unusual at that price.
All of them are FloorScore certified, and the 81 Series and TF83 add CARB P2 for formaldehyde emissions. TF66 Southwest, TF63 and the TF80s are approved over radiant heat.
Laminate is water resistant, not waterproof. For bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements, take the SPC vinyl instead.
5. MDF baseboard
Triforest also supplies MDF baseboard in 16 ft lengths, which is the easy way to finish a floor in one order rather than chasing trim separately.

Taller baseboard reads as more finished in rooms with high ceilings; 3.5" to 5.5" suits a standard 8 ft ceiling. Order transitions at the same time so the thresholds match.
6. Which one suits your room
- Condo with an IIC requirement: SPC 6, SPC 5 or SPC 2 — the three series with published IIC 73 / STC 72 ratings.
- Kitchen, bathroom or basement: any SPC click series; the core is fully waterproof.
- Family home, main floor: SPC 6 at 9.05" wide with a 0.5 mm wear layer, or TF83 laminate if you prefer the look and feel of a thick board.
- Large area on a budget: SPC 5 for its 30 sq ft box, or TF63 laminate at $2.19.
- Shop, clinic or office: GD 2 glue-down, for the rolling loads and the single-plank repair.
- Rental turnover: the Loose Lay Collection — quick to lay, quicker to lift.
- Narrow plank look: SPC 7 Coastal at 5.99", the only narrow format in the range.

Is Toucan SPC waterproof?
The SPC click series are rated 100% waterproof. The laminates are water resistant — 72 hours on the 81 Series, 120 hours on TF83.
Can it go over radiant heat?
SPC Timeless, SPC 6, SPC 7 Coastal, SPC 5, SPC 2, TF66 Southwest, TF63 and the TF80 laminates are all approved. Acclimatise the floor first and respect the maximum surface temperature.
